I am most motivated when I can see the direct impact of what I am doing. Abstract work that feeds into a process I never see the end of drains me. What energizes me is closing things out — watching a project ship, seeing a process improve in measurable ways. That is why I have gravitated toward operational and project-based roles throughout my career. There is always a clear finish line and I can see whether I got there.
