Decision Making and Problem SolvingQuestion 11 of 30

How Do You Handle Change at Work

How to answer this question

  • 1Show a real approach to change, not just a positive attitude.
  • 2Separate your feelings about the change from your behavioral response to it.
  • 3Describe how you stay effective during transitions.
  • 4Show how you help others through change as well as yourself.
  • 5Give a specific example — generic adaptability claims are not convincing.

Example answer

My honest answer is that I have learned to separate my feelings about a change from my response to it. I might not love a new system or a reorganization, but I focus early on understanding the reason behind it and figuring out how to be effective in the new environment. When we transitioned to a new ERP system I was skeptical of the timeline, but I volunteered for the pilot team, got ahead of the learning curve, and ended up training four colleagues.
